The Geneva-based non-governmental organization with regional offices across the MENA region and Europe says it has recorded the desecration of at least 12 cemeteries in Gaza by Zionist forces and their bulldozers.
“During their operations, the occupiers dug up and destroyed the graves of the Palestinians, rolled over the bodies of the martyrs with armored and other vehicles and even dismembered and stole some of them”, the Euro-Med Rights Monitor said.
The rights watchdog underlined that many cemeteries have also been ripped apart by Israeli airstrikes, resulting in the destruction of dozens of graves, dismembering of the martyrs' bodies and even disappearing of the remains.
According to this international rights organization, Palestinians have been forced to establish unofficial cemeteries inside their homes and ceremonial halls to avoid these Israeli crimes.
“More than 120 such cemeteries have come up across Gaza as the people are unable to access official cemeteries to bury their loved ones due to relentless Israeli bombardments of the besieged strip”, the group said.
The Israeli genocide in Gaza has overwhelmed morgues and cemeteries making proper funerals there almost impossible. Many families dig up long-trenches and holes to make space for the victims.
